Company Profile

Southwestern Research, Inc. is a private medical research group specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and insomnia. We conduct clinical trials on a full-time basis and have a research staff comprised of well-trained, highly competent professionals.

Who Are We?

Dennis J, Munjack, M.D.

Dr. Munjack has served as a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Southern California for over 20 years.  At the University, he ran an Anxiety Disorders Program, a Behavior Therapy Unit, and a Sex Dysfunction Clinic.  He has published over 70 articles on treating sexual problems in the office practice.  While he still regularly ectures at the University, he now dedicates his time to private clinical research in depression and anxiety disorders.  Dr. Munjack has been conducting clinical trials since 1980.

John J. Murphy, M.D.

Prior to completing his residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Southern California, Dr. Murphy had trained in General Surgery and worked as a General Practitioner.  Currently he serves as the Medical Director at Southwestern Research, Inc., and as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Child and Adolescent Services at the University of Southern California.  Dr. Murphy has been conducting clinical trials since 1994.

Brock H. Summers, M.D.

Dr. Summers brings a wealth of clinical experience and teaching to our program at Southwestern Research, Inc.  He is board certified in general and forensic psychiatry and has completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well.  He was formerly the supervising psychiatrist and the head of LA County Jail's Inmate Reception Center, one of the country's largest mental health facilities.  Dr. Summers has lectured across the country regarding coordination of care for the mentally ill and the community.
